“The Jaguar Trials” is written by Ruth Eastham. I thought this was a fascinating book. When I first started reading it, I thought it was boring, as all the characters weren’t doing much because they were just on a boat, but when I read to the middle of the book and further on, I was totally engrossed. I had a great desire for the book and I kept reading it every day eagerly. I was stunned by how the author wrote the story, as Ruth Eastham described all the locations in the book and I was able to picture every event in my head.
I personally love suspense books and “The Jaguar Trials” is a suspense book, as it has got a lot of mysterious events. The story line is about Ben, the main character, searching for his father, with the help of Raphael and Yara, in their journey through the jungle. The three friends join up with Professor Erskine to search together for the lost City of Gold, as well as Ben’s father, but they discover that finding the truth can be dangerous!
I would rate this awesome book 5/5 because as you can all see, I couldn’t stop reading. I learnt that you should never give up in life, even if there are dangers lying around. I also learnt that friends should be trustworthy and stick together through good and bad times. I would recommend this book to anyone and I am hoping to read more of Ruth Eastham’s books.
Thank you all for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed it.
Little Stars” is a fascinating book written by Jacqueline Wilson. It is part of a series which starts from “Hetty Feather” and explains the story of her life as she becomes famous at the music hall with her sister, Diamond. Diamond is a young, child acrobat and participates in their act called ‘The Little Stars’. Hetty encourages her to perform well, however sometimes Bertie, (Hetty’s sweetheart) is adored by Diamond. When they are banned from the music hall, they are forced to leave Bertie and their new friends. However, they join an acting company which inspires them to perform with more confidence.
Meanwhile, Bertie leaves the music hall to join Hetty and Diamond, not knowing what has happened. A dear friend from the last book comes to visit, although she has to bring bad news. Will they live a normal life after this? I would rate this book 10 out of 10 because of its tension and excitement during the book. I would recommend this to someone who has read all 4 books, because it will be easier to understand. The first book in the series is “Hetty Feather”, then “Diamond”, (a story from her point of view). And then “Sapphire Battersea”, Hetty’s real name. Second to last is “Emerald Star”, (Hetty’s show name). And then one of the best books, “Little Stars!”
Recently I went to an immense, local library. When I first entered the library, my eyes suddenly gazed onto a large book – ” Handmade Gifts.” I gasped with excitement then in a streak of lightning, I had My future book in my soft, warm hands. Forgetting that libraries had to be quiet, I started oohing and gasping. There was not a single movement but only my hands turning to soft, silky pages of the book. As soon as I got home, I got some paper and started cutting out some brilliant shapes and letters. Not only arts, there was a lot of information about how to make soap and toiletries. I desperately wanted to make soap but unfortunately I didn’t have all the ingredients. So today I have made a bunch of awesome things. Unfortunately the book is not to keep so I will be having to return it to the library. Thank you everyone for reading my blog post and I hope you enjoyed it.
Summer’s Dream is an inspiring yet funny story written by Cathy Cassidy. This book is about a girl named Summer who has a passion for dancing. When a new role for a ballet school comes up she practises so much it takes over her life. She stresses out, and turns her summer holidays into a nightmare. Food becomes her worst enemy, and her friends are turning against her. Summer soon finds she has an eating disorder, but will it stop her dreams of becoming a dancer? I like the tension gathering up when she decides to tell no one about her eating issues and then is sent to hospital due to smoke inhalation.
I enjoyed this book because it has inspired me to keep trying and never give up. However, it is important not to try to hard and to accept defeat. I like other Cathy Cassidy books and I am hoping to read some more soon. Overall, I would rate this book 9 out of 10 and it is now one of my favourite books to read. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves reading Cathy Cassidy books.
